"Since I got my first Big Single loaded bass, all my basses got Nordstrand pickups exclusively. I am using the NP5, the BigRig, Big Singles and NJ5 sets. The NP5/BigRig set do help me to cut through ANY loud band. The Nordstrand Big Singles are different than traditional single coils. They are much fatter, punchier in the low mids, with a bit of a dip in the upper mids and extended highs. They are in the jazz bass realm but they definitely have their own sound. Mmm, the Big Splits aren't on the Nordular site. Must investigate further as I'm looking for something similar to the Big Singles. If they're split you should be able to switch between series and parallel. Bridge in series and neck in parallel can be a very cool sounding option. Maybe someone from Nordstrand will clear this up for us.
